MOH condemns verbal abuse and physical assault on a female doctor while performing her duty

KUWAIT CITY, Apr 20: The Ministry of Health expressed its strong condemnation of verbal and physical abuse that a female Kuwaiti doctor was exposed to while performing her work in a Mohamed Abdel Rahman Al-Bahr Eye Center by an visitor, stressing the keenness to take relevant legal measures.

Kuwaiti doctor who was examining one of the cases in the emergency center’s emergency and she had a patient which she was examining at this moment another visitor entered the clinic asking for clarification of matters from another doctor who was in the same clinic, regarding the review paper for his wife. He was asked to sit in the rest until his appointment came, but he repeated his inquiries and accordingly a verbal argument took place with the doctor which evolved to into entering the clinic and assaulting her.

The sources indicated that the doctor went and recorded a case of assaulting a public employee while he was working on his right at the Shuwaikh Industrial Police Station, and he was summoned by the detectives for investigation.

The Ministry of Health stated in a press statement that it will not hesitate to take the legal measures against those who attack any individual in the health system specially at a time when the entire world is depending on medical personnel and are in support of them in the fight against the coronavirus (COVID 19)

The attack on any health practitioner is an attack on the medical body as a whole, while appreciating the sacrifices made by medical, technical and administrative teams in performing their national and professional duties.
