Missing radioactive device from Burgan oil field found

KUWAIT CITY, May 5: A radioactive device that was missing at Burgan oil field, southern Kuwait, earlier Friday was found and fully sealed, the Ministry of Interior confirmed.

It said an expatriate who works in Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) called the ministry to report he found a device near his work area in Burgan oil field.

He said he did not try to open the device or tamper with it, and that he contacted the MoI after reading the ministry’s statement over the missing device.

The MoI, which recovered the device from the expatriate at his house, said the area has been scanned and no traces of radioactive materials were found.
