KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: The factfinding committee, which was set up by Ministry of Health to investigate the rumor spread on social media about the provision of fake medicines to cancer patients at Kuwait Center for Cancer Control, has concluded its tasks and affirmed that the distributed medicines were 100 percent original. According to the Head of Leukemia Department at Kuwait Center for Cancer Control Dr Salem Al-Shammari, the committee verified the files of the drugs specified on social media before concluding that those medicines were not adulterated and are 100 percent pure.He explained that the medicines were approved by Ministry of Health and they were purchased through the GCC Joint Committee on Purchase of Medicines and Medical Equipment affiliated to Executive Office of the GCC Council of Health Ministers. He stressed that this means all GCC countries purchase the same type of medicines.Dr Al-Shammari went on to explain that the medicines were manufactured by world renowned pharmaceutical companies and were approved by the abovementioned GCC joint committee. Other authorized companies started manufacturing the medicines following the expiration of the patent right, which allows other companies the right to manufacture the item under legal monitoring.Meanwhile, the Peace and Anti- Terrorism Ambassador at the African-Arab Unity Organization Ambassador Dr Mohammad Al-Mudaeris has urged the government to take a cue from the governments of European countries and the United States of America that recently enacted laws to revoke citizenship of those indicted for terrorist acts, says Al-Seyassah. Dr Al-Mudaeris said the future is complicated for the entire region specifically Kuwait, pointing out the fact that Kuwaiti security operatives are still raiding the hideouts of terrorists in the country to ensure they are wiped out.He suggested that overcoming terrorism demands a multi-technique approach, especially at this time when the so-called Jihadist movements have been regrouping. Dr Al-Mudaeris reminded that some countries are embarking on extensive raids covering suspicious houses, insisting that the incoming National Assembly should vote to pass a bill in favor of revoking citizenship of people indicted for terrorist acts.By Marwa Al-Bahrawi Al-Seyassah Staff
