KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8: In light of the government’s trend towards digital transformation of transactions, the Ministry of Justice has made great strides in archiving marriage contracts of citizens and expatriates by transferring about two million marriage and divorce contracts from 1954 to those issued in 2008. The contracts issued after this period are directly archived electronically, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Integrity Enhancement Jamal Al-Jalawi explained that the ministry, based on its keenness for electronic transformation of transactions and its plans to expand its services to the public and those dealing with it, provides dozens of services of its various departments in electronic format, including the Sharia Authentication Department with the electronic contract service, which allows the completion of all procedures related to marriage contract electronically through the platform with ease.

The service allows the beneficiary to register his data and the data of the marriage contract, and then book an appointment with the authorized person to have the marriage contract electronically documented. The administration is putting the final touches to complete the marriage contract electronically via “iPad” and adopting the electronic signature of the contractors and witnesses. The service is expected to be officially launched early next year.
