KUWAIT CITY, May 23: Number of schools of various educational levels that have accumulated debts due to the use of laborers at the expense of the school fund. With the end of April and the failure to receive the second installment of the advance amount, the school principals had to pay huge amounts from their own pockets or borrow from teachers in order to pay the workers whose wages have not been paid for their daily work based on the agreement between them.

These principals are hoping that they will be compensated by the ministry, reports Al-Anba daily. The sources explained that, with the advent of the Eid al-Fitr holidays and the end of April, there are some schools that did not pay the workers their wages. They are required to pay the wages of the workers after the Eid holidays, or else the schools will end up not having such manpower, which the schools are in dire need of.

The sources revealed that the workers were recruited under the directives and instructions of the educational leaders, with the assurance that the amounts will be provided from the financial fund. However, due to the nondisbursement of the second installment of the advance amount to some schools, the school administrations ended up being in a financial crisis due to their inability to pay the wages of the workers. In this context, an educational source indicated that the second advance amount from the schools fund will not be disbursed in the second semester without closing the first payment bills, which were disbursed in the first semester of the current academic year. He said the Ministry of Education continues to transfer funds for schools according to the rules and regulations in force
