KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: Minister of Public Works Hussam Al-Roumi has ordered the formation of two independent committees to determine violations and problems in projects executed by the ministry, reports Al-Jarida daily.
This came after the ministry received several complains about some construction and road engineering projects which do not meet the specifications and standards set by the ministry. Sources disclosed the first committee, headed by Dr Muhammad Al-Yaqout from the College of Engineering and Petroleum in Kuwait University, will submit reports on highway and bridge projects to the minister.

Sources said the committee’s report touches on the assessment of the upper surface of expressways and roads renovated or maintained recently to ensure they meet the specifications and standards set by the ministry, in addition to identifying errors in various bridge projects implemented by PART.
Sources added the report covers all roads including those constructed recently and those that have been under maintenance since several years ago, indicating the minister gave the committee absolute power to conduct tests.
