Once again, His Highness the Amir of Kuwait has succeeded in ending crises, the recent of which was the withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship of some opposition members and people with blunt political opinions. We all are glad about the decision taken to reinstate their citizenship even though they are neither our relatives nor friends, and none of our privileges as Kuwaitis have been devalued.

It is just that we are joyous with this news which refutes allegations of Kuwait being a police state where anyone who expresses his or her opinion will be thrown into a pit of snakes. We are happy because justice prevailed.

Those affected by the decision and their families will return to enjoying opulent Kuwaiti lifestyle, the kind of lifestyle they deserve, which usually comes with the honor of having Kuwaiti citizenship. It was sad to see a religious preacher being shunned, while an inglorious artist who has done nothing for Kuwait except bounce around in a comedy show continues to enjoy the citizenship.

We were in pain every time we felt we had to look behind our backs out of fear and emotional distress under the expectation of seeing someone appear from nowhere and stitch our lips together as soon as we start talking, opposing or even expressing our grief out loud. His Highness the Amir’s generosity was excellent and an honor for him – the one who ends disputes with fatherly wisdom and knows when to decide for the sake of the better course of his children and the country in terms of security and stability. It was not just the Amiri intervention that made us happy. In fact, it was the excellent level of manifestation and reassurance of justice and peace.

Kuwaitis are glad and joyous by how the matter is being handled. They have started exchanging congratulatory greetings for the return of the nationalities of their countrymen and women after they were stripped off for some reason or the other. We are talking about the Kuwaiti stature represented by the personality of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah — the International Humanitarian Leader, a prudent leader, political master, and the custodian of the vision of Kuwait’s future.

We also hope that the files of our brothers and sisters from the Bedoun community and the children of Kuwaiti women – those who deserve to be officially declared as Kuwaitis — will soon be dealt with so that this joyous occasion can be extended through achievement of what is long overdue. Long live our cherished Amir!
