KUWAIT CITY, May 22: Directorate General of Drug Control (DCGD) managed to arrest a “bedoun” (an illegal resident) in possession of 70 kg of hashish (hash), a kilo of crystal methamphetamine (shabo) and half kilo of heroin.

Acting Director General of DCGD Col Waleed Al-Dureie’ mentioned that the department received information that one Saudi inmate in the Central Jail smuggled a huge haul of hashish through his accomplice “the bedoun”, who receives and sells the drugs on his behalf. Based on the information, Col Al-Dureie’ indicated that the bedoun was put under surveillance, which led to his arrest last Friday in Suleibiya area where he was caught in possession of a kilo of hashish, kilo of shabo and half of kilo of heroin. Col Al-Dureie added that after intensive interrogations to determine the relations between the bedoun and the Saudi national inmate, the bedoun confessed he works for the inmate and also confessed about the big haul of drugs he had buried in an area called Bneidar.

The officers from DGCD went to the scene and found the buried haul of about 70 kg of hashish, which was smuggled into the country two days earlier through the sea and was yet to be peddled. The bedoun together with the seized drugs was taken to the concerned authorities where necessary legal measures have been taken against him.
