Kuwait’s revival era has begun

INDEED, reform cannot be achieved in a night or day, or through hopeless efforts. When there is a will, all this will come within reach.

So far, Kuwaitis are feeling the seriousness of the remedial measures to stop the deterioration of the state administration. This is emphasized by the field tours of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf to the government institutions, under the directives of His Highness the Crown Prince, where he directly engages with the public and listens to the challenges they are facing in various aspects of life.

In addition to the open door policy that the new leadership is cementing in all institutions, these measures are instilling reassurance that a new, strong and resolute era has begun.

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz said to the Kuwaitis who were present during the annual Hajj luncheon, “Kuwait withered, and someone came to revive it.”

Most of the measures that have been taken until today were in the final stages of mere dreams, especially with the abnormal situation that the country has not been familiar with for several decades.

This made them feel like they were losing their homeland as a result of the emergence of a state with deep interests that dominate all aspects of life, and with the presence of an executive authority that was unable to confront or was perhaps complicit such that it gave the “thread and needle” to a group of influential people and MPs who spread corruption while it distanced itself from exercising its role.

Today people have realized that words and actions go hand in hand in the new era. When pledges are made, they are not meant to buy time, but rather it brings about a sense of the greatness of the trust entrusted to the leadership, and so it seeks to implement.

Therefore, according to the leaked information from the private meetings of decision-makers, the month of October, when the constitutional course is completed, will turn out to be very hot for the corruption groups that are still trying to move their tools to obstruct the reform process.

Also, all project files will be opened, and every official or citizen involved in suspicious activities will be held accountable.

Likewise, work will be conducted to examine most of the bodies that were created to buy loyalties and to prolong the documentary cycle in order to cement the power of the influentials or the MPs, which later turn into corrupt electoral and financial assets for the benefit of them.

There will be no place for the mantra of “trust before performance” that has destroyed management in most organizations.

What His Highness the Prime Minister said to the citizens at the Housing Corporation recently is one of the titles of the next stage, as Kuwait is in dire need of a new housing policy.

This requires legislative procedures that must be protected by the force of the impartiality of the executive authority, so that it is not subject to any parliamentary blackmail, and that the citizens do not return to square one.

From here, projects must be assigned to foreign and international companies directly from the state without going through a local agent, as is the case in most Gulf countries, to build integrated housing cities at prices that take into account the citizen’s income. This will be one of the remedial tools to stop wasting public money and time.

Undoubtedly, all of this requires determination and patience, and also the will to continue the same pace of following up on leaders and direct officials, because any complacency or acquiescence to any pressure means failure of the pledge to eradicate the scourge of corruption.

This is not what the people, who are betting today on seeing a new and strong Kuwait that is free from the malaise of deep state interests that almost destroyed the country and the people, want.
