Kuwaitis dominate Shooting Grand Prix – Gold for Al-Nemshan, Al-Shamma’ and Al-Rashid

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: The number of gold medals for Kuwait National Shooting Team increased to six after Hamad Al-Nemshan, Eman Al-Shamma’ and Abdullah Al-Turaqi Al-Rashid won in their respective categories in the Seventh HH the Amir of Kuwait Shooting Grand Prix at Mayadeen Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex.

Al-Nemshan bagged his gold medal in the 10-meter Air Pistol Category for Men with 237 points, ahead of Oman’s Ismael Al-Arabi who scored the same points, whereas Tunisian Alaa Al-Othmani came third with 212 points.

In the Skeet for Women, Al-Shamma’ took the gold medal after achieving 56 points ahead of Kazakhstan’s Oligha Panarina who won the silver with 53 points, whereas the bronze went to Bahrain’s Maryam Hassani with 42 points.

In the Skeet for Men, Al-Rashid won the gold medal, the silver went to his compatriot Abdul-Rahman Al-Faihan, whereas the bronze medal went to Italy’s Jiyabi Taza who achieved 44 points. Al-Rashidi and Al-Faihan were tied at 56 points each, and the tie was broken with the win of Al-Rashidi in the extra round.

With this, the total number of medals won by Kuwaiti shooters now stands at six gold medals and one silver.

The tournament will conclude with the Double Trap competition in which elite Asian and world champions are among the competitors.

Secretary-General of Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations Obeid Al-Oseimi pointed out the current edition, in which a group of elite champions are participating, witnessed stiff competition. He said the participants proved their readiness to compete for top positions in all categories.

He praised the organization of the championship as he described those in charge to be working as a team from the first day of the games in a bid to ensure the championship comes out at the desired level.

Head of Tunisian delegation Sameer Shaushan lauded the efforts exerted by the official organizers of the tournament. He affirmed they have been successful in facilitating support for participation in tournaments held in Kuwait.
