Kuwaiti students freed after probes into Alexandria row

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 7: Kuwait Embassy in Cairo said that all Kuwaiti students, who were detained following the row at an Alexandria shopping mall, have been released on Saturday afternoon. The Embassy renewed the call for its nationals living in Egypt, particularly the students, to abide by the laws and regulations there, according to a statement received by KUNA.


Since the row erupted in early this morning, the Embassy has been in contact with the competent authorities in Egypt to ensure the safety of the students until they were set free, it said, noting that the embassy followed up the investigations into the incident

Earlier Kuwait Embassy in Cairo said it is following up, in cooperation with Kuwaiti Cultural Attache in Alexandria Governorate, the developments of the probes by the Egyptian authorities into a recent quarrel of Kuwaiti students at an Alexandria mall. With regard to a video circulated on social media, there was a row between a group of Kuwaiti students in Alexandria in a commercial complex that led to some minor injuries, and the complex’s personnel dealt with the act, the embassy said in a statement on Saturday.
