KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: The Criminal Court has overturned two years jail sentence with hard labor against a citizen who was accused of torturing his housemaid with a hot spoon in different parts of her body.

The court thereby declared the man not guilty. The case file indicated the housemaid was working for the man at the time of her torture, and he burnt her hand, front and back thighs, upper part of her chest, stomach and back. The forensic report supported her complaints, and she ought to undergo treatment for over 30 days.

Lawyer Faisal Al-Otaibi in defense of the suspect argued that documents presented as evidence did not prove that the sponsor was actually the one who tortured her. He affirmed that his client denied the allegations right from the inception of investigation. He stressed that the plaintiff confirmed the sponsor was treating her well after the incident
