KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: The Civil Court obligated a Kuwaiti citizen to pay compensation worth KD 5,000 to a police officer whom he insulted at a police station. Lawyer Jarrah Al-Enezi filed the lawsuit on the behalf of the police officer against the Kuwaiti citizen who was sentenced to three-month imprisonment for insulting his client publicly at a police station. He insisted that the defendant has been held legally responsible through the penalty issued against him by the court, revealing that his client suffered severe moral and psychological harms after he was offended by the defendant while carrying out his duty at the police station.

Ruling overruled: The Court of Cassation overturned the ruling of the Appeals Court that sentenced a citizen in absentia to 10 years imprisonment with hard labor for tricking his exwife to continue their marital affairs after divorce. The plaintiff in her submission said the ex-husband earlier divorced her in an irrevocable manner and still continued to engage in marital affairs with her. The defense team led by Attorney Zayd Al-Khabbaz argued that jail sentence slapped on his client was based on misleading arguments that contradicted facts, indicating the ex-wife (plaintiff) knew about a third divorce but the lower court failed to put that into consideration while issuing its verdict.
