Moreover, he underscored the groundswell of support the team has gotten from the Kuwaiti leadership, who provided them with the chance to showcase their athletic prowess.

Meanwhile, coach of the Kuwaiti national team Ali Falah told KUNA that the team has done the nation proud, as he described a rabid Kuwaiti fan base who further motivated the athletes to rise to the occasion.

Falah also added that the team’s performance left many of the spectators in awe, which proves that the sports scene in Kuwait has risen exponentially.

Similarly, the team’s assistant coach Mohammad Al-Sanad gave the athletes credit for victories over teams such as Russia, Sudan and Chile, wins that gave them a well-deserved third place finish.

One of the Kuwaiti athletes, Athbi Ahmad, said that the team’s participation in this tournament will serve as further incentive for bigger and better things. With participation of 20 nations from four different continents, the “Jeem Cup” is the first school-level international junior football tournament. (KUNA)
