Kuwait Women Cricket Team

Kuwait emerged victorious in the Women’s Twenty20 International (WT20I) Triangular Tournament, which took place at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha, Qatar from Jan 17-21, 2020, after beating Oman by seven wickets.

The “Player of the Match” prize went to Kuwait’s Priyada Murali for her excellent performance in both batting and bowling.

Oman, captained by Vaishali Jesrani, had won the toss and elected to bat, and could only score 93/6 in 20 overs. Kuwait, captained by Amna Sharif Tariq, managed to score 94/3 in 16.5 overs to win the match.

The tournament was hosted by the Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) headed by Yousef Jeham Al-Kuwari with the aim of giving the regional teams a platform to gain experience and exposure in order to raise their standard.

Al-Kuwari presented the awards and trophy at the prize distribution ceremony in the presence of other QCA officials. He congratulated Kuwait for their outstanding performance.

He said, “We extend out heartiest congratulations to champions Kuwait for superb performance in the final. Oman also played well but they fell a bit short especially in the final. Our aim was to provide opportunity to all the participating teams to play hard and learn through competition. The teams and players must have got a lot of positives from the triangular series”.
