MANAMA, Nov 20, (KUNA): Kuwaiti players achieved several medals in Bahrain’s First Open Boccia Championship, said Member of the Board of Directors of the Kuwaiti Disabled Sport Club Salah Al-Mosawi.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Mosawi stressed that the Kuwaiti players have performed well in the Boccia tournament, which is designated for people with extreme disabilities.

He said that Dhari Al-Azmi won the gold medal in the individual game in the Gulf championship and the bronze medal in the Arab championship.

Hassan Ibrahim won the bronze medal in the individual game in the Gulf championship, he added.

He noted that the Kuwaiti team – Hassan Ibrahim and Fahad Al-Harbi – won the gold medal in the Gulf championship and silver in the Arab championship.

The Kuwait team consists of seven players Fahad Al-Babtain, Mohammad Al-Mutairi, Dhari Al-Azmi, Tahani Ismail, Amani Ismail, Fahad Al-Harbi and Hassan Ibrahim.

Boccia is a game of strategy and accuracy that was originally designed to be played by people with cerebral palsy.

The competitions, which began last Saturday in Manama, witnessed the participation of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq and Jordan.
