Kuwait welcomes two-month truce in Yemen

KUWAIT CITY, April 2: The State of Kuwait, Saturday, welcomed the announcement by the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg of a two-month cessation of hostilities in Yemen and along the borders with Saudi Arabia. A statement by the Foreign Ministry said that the State of Kuwait was in total support of the efforts led by the UN to resolve the conflict in Yemen, commending the efforts by Grundberg, which led to the truce.

The step came in line with the initiative announced by Saudi Arabia in March of 2021 for Yemen, indicated the ministry, affirming that the cessation of hostilities would create the adequate atmosphere to reach a just political solution according to approved upon international accords. The State of Kuwait reiterated its support to all efforts to safeguard the security and sovereignty in Yemen, aching stability to the whole region, the statement concluded.(KUNA)
