KUWAIT CITY, Jan 19: Kuwait intends to host the Donors Conference for Supporting Sudan soon, reports Al-Anba daily quoting high level sources. Sources disclosed Kuwait has given initial approval without specifying the date of the conference, indicating the proposal was to hold the conference in April but the Kuwaiti side finds it difficult to do so.
Sources expect the conference to be held after Ramadan, noting the conference aims to help Sudan in its political transformation and provide the country with economic cover. Sources said Sudan needs $3 billion urgently, clarifying the economic sanctions imposed on it are the main obstacles in providing assistance to the country. Sources added the European countries will try to put pressure on Washington to remove Sudan from the terrorism list.
