Kuwait’s ice hockey team ‘Kuwait Stars’ club defeated ‘Bahraini’ club by 5-0 in the opening match of the first ice hockey championship for Gulf clubs, which kicked off last Tuesday at Kuwait Ice Skating Rink with the participation of teams from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Oman, and the host country, Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti side managed to dominate the entire match to win the first points of the championship under the captainship of Ahmad Al-Ajmi.
In the second match the UAE’s ‘Abu Dhabi Storms’ defeated Oman’s Rockies also by five goals to nothing, which gave the UAE team the first two points of the tournament.

The five-day championship is sponsored by the Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Muhammad Al-Jabri and organized by Kuwait Winter Games Club on a league system, with each team squaring off against each other once. Each team, according to the championship regulations, is allowed five professional players.
