Kuwait lists 1,658 new COVID-19 cases, nine deaths

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 18: Kuwait said 1,658 people tested positive for coronavirus with nine related deaths reported on Friday, taking the total up to 335,874 and 1,851, respectively, according to the health ministry. Another 1,386 people were cured of the virus, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 317,031, ministry spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad told a press conference. The number of people hospitalised with the virus currently stands at 16,992, with 202 of them in intensive care units, he added, revealing that some 14,256 swab tests were conducted over the last day out of a total of 2,815,117. He went on to urge nationals and expatriates alike that abiding by health precautions, mainly, following social distancing rules, is the only way to halt the spread of the virus.
