MANAMA, Aug 21, (KUNA): Kuwait clinched a valuable 82-76 triumph over Qatar on Tuesday making up for an opening defeat at the Gulf Basketball Association (GBA) Qualifiers for the 2020 FIBA U-18 Asian Championship.

The much-needed victory, places Kuwait equal on points with Oman in third, but only the first and second-placed teams will be granted automatic progression to the wider continental tournament.

Kuwait are taking part in their first competitive tournament since a close to three-year sports ban was lifted off the country last year.

Meanwhile, hosts Bahrain, who thrashed Kuwait in the opener, maintained their scintillating form with a resounding 123-53 victory over Oman.

Saudi Arabia also extended their lead in the competition with a 62-51 win over the UAE.
