Kuwait defeats Singapore in Asia Cup qualifier

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: In the Asia Cup Qualifiers, the Kuwait team played excellent all-round cricket to qualify for Asia Cup. Singapore, having won the toss opted to bat first at Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket, Oman. Singapore were restricted to 104 in 19.5 overs. Yasin Patel of Kuwait grabbed 4 wickets, Shiraz Khan 3 wickets and Sayed Monib 2 wickets. Janak Prakash of Singapore scored 29 and opener Aritra Dutta scored 21.

Batting second, Kuwait team openers chasing 104 took the game away from Singapore in the first 5 overs. A Fury of 6’s by Ravija Sandaruwan (28) and Meet Bhavsar (17) followed by unbeaten knocks by Bilal Tahir (21) and Sayed Monib (32) were able to chase down 105 in 7.5 overs. Yasin Patel was adjudged player of the match.

Hong Kong with 6 points are placed on top of the table, followed by Kuwait with 4 points, UAE with 2 points and Singapore without any points
