KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has decided to cancel one of its tenders that is related to expansion and renovation of the KOC labor union building in Ahmadi area without giving any reasons to the contractors, reports Al-Anba daily quoting reliable sources from the oil sector.

They explained that the contract proposed by KOC recently prior to its cancellation was aimed at the construction of a building that would extend from the current KOC Labor Union building and consist of a concrete single floor with an approximate total area of 1,700 square meters. It also would involve demolition of part of the existing buildings of an area of approximately 700 square meters and renovation of parts of the main building of approximately an area of 140 square meters.

The sources indicated that the renovation of the labor union building was deemed as an urgent necessity to match the increasing number of union members and deal with the regular staff meetings held in the building as well as to ensure the best services are provided, adding that KOC had limited the implementation of the contract to 18 months only.
