Jacob, Farinas top ‘Valentine’s Cup’ Higher A – Parcon, Ramos soar high in Level B

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: The Valentine’s Cup 2016 was the start of another favorite tournament filled with passion and enthusiasm for badminton at the Al Nasser Gym in an atmosphere filled with love, fun and laughter.

The tournament is composed of 3 ranking Fridays and 1 Friday for finals. The rotation of partners is the format during the elimination rounds. Ranking is based on the total score the players got each game and the scoring is race to 21.

This tourney is brought to us by Filipino Badminton Club in Kuwait (FILBACK) headed by their overall tournament Director Noel Candolesas and Directors Nato Calanog and Alex Hernandez together with their officers and members.

Level A

In Higher A Category the top players are Mathew Jacob with 187 points and Nestor Farinas with 175 points.

Mathew and Roy beat Allan and Edison 21-19, 21-11 and teamed up with Nestor to overcome Roy and Henry 21-18, 21-17.

Mathew and Puskaraj lost to Roy and Victor 21-19, 20-21, 16-21 but with Allan as team-mate thumped Puskaraj and Edison. On the other hand Nestor and Edison was beaten by Allan and Henry 21-20, 19-21, 15-21, but teamed up with Allan but were defeated by Edison and Henry 16-21, 21-18, 18-21 but with Henry they smashed Roy and partner 21-15, 21-17.

In the Lower A Category the top players are Joel Gonzaga with 192 points and Rhommel Torres with 182 points.

Joel and Alek prevailed over Neilbert and Nato 21-11, 15-21, 21-20, with Neilbert as team-mate thumped Andrei and Mon 21-17, 21-19.

Joel and Ainur hammered Gigi and Nato 21-15, 21-10 and with Rhommel clobbered Anthony and Sameeh 21-16, 21-13.

On the other hand Rhommel and Mon were victorious against Noel and Neilbert 19-21, 21-19, 21-18. Together with Anthony they tamed Nato and Ainur 21-16, 21-20 but with Aleks they were beaten by Anthony and Mon 21-19, 18-21, 19-21.

Level B

In Higher B Category the star players are Eric Parcon with 192 points and Bonnie Lazatin with 175 points.

During the game proper Eric and Rey outlasted Tarek and Arnel 17-21, 21-17, 21-17 while wih Chato they flattened Nhoy and Romeo 21-14, 21-9.

Eric and Cris pummeled Rey and Chato 21-7, 21-12 and together with Addy they flattened Bonnie and Joel 21-11, 21-14.

On the other hand Bonnie and Addy outclassed Fred and Arnel 21-15, 21-16 and paired with Fred they won against Addy and Arnel 21-18, 21-15 and when teamed up with Arjay they smashed Rey and Romeo 21-13, 21-18.

In the Lower B Category the top ranked players are Melissa Ramos with 178 points and Ambar Ojha with 177 points.

During the game Melissa and Manik were beaten by Ambar and Albert 21-18, 18-21, 18-21 and when team up with Ambar they slammed Manik and Albert 21-16, 21-13. Melissa and Yohan were defeated by Glaiza and Ayieng 14-21, 21-14, 18-21.

Melissa and Gomer were defeated by Abby and Albert 20-21, 17-21 but when paired with Leo they tamed Yohan and Glaiza 21-15, 21-15. Ambar and Rami were defeated by Manik and Ayieng 14-21, 21-10, 20-21 and with Manik they slammed Ayieng and Melissa 21-18, 21-16.

Level C

In Higher C Category our stellar players are Arfit with 186 points and Kenneth Laxamana with 184 points.

During the game Arfit and Zarah outclassed Apple and Emily 21-18, 21-15 and with Maridel they tamed Amor and Liza 21-14, 21-20. Arfit and Apple lose to Maridel and Chito 21-10, 17-21, 15-21 and when paired with Reem they hammered Zarah and Maridel 21-19, 21-8.

On the other hand Kenned and Apple thumped Gerald and Zarah 21-20, 21-18, together with Reem they outsmarted Apple and Beck 21-13, 21-20. Kenneth and Amor triumphed against Liza and Gerald 20-21, 21-8, 21-16 while with Liza they overcame Emily and Gerald 16-21, 21-11, 21-19.

In the Lower C Category we have JC with 192 points and Jory Bantug with 184 points.

JC and Henedine smashed Sally and Jennifer 21-16, 21-18 and with Jennifer they outlasted Adora and Henedine 21-20, 20-21, 21-14. JC and Sally slammed Ninette and Jeniffer 21-18, 21-15 and with Michelle they tamed Aurora and Ninette 21-18, 21-14.

On the other hand Jory and Susan flattened Michelle and Catherine 21-13, 21-13 and with Henedine they outclassed Michelle and Aurora 17-21, 21-18, 21-10. Jory and Ninette hammered Jennifer and Susan 21-16, 21-12 and with Julieanne they thumped Susan and Aurora 21-14, 21-18.

Level D

In Higher D Category the reigning queens are Juzzile Magno with 177 points and Maricel with 167 point.

As for the Lower D Category they have Virgie with 192 points and Marju Delavin with 183 points.

During the match Juzziel and Rona slammed Arman and Sol 21-7, 21-10 together with Remy they overcame Arman and Mishari, paired with Marju they clobbered Maricel and Lily 21-9, 21-8 and with Rona they lose to Mishari and partner 17-21, 10-21. Maricel and Arman hammered Sol and Mishal 21-10, 21-19 and with Vergie they beaten Lily and Paul 21-19, 21-20 and together with Paul they pummeled Arman and Enas 21-9, 21-13.

Vergie and Rona outclassed Ross and Paul 21-14, 11-21, 21-15 and with Mishal they flattened Mishari and Sol 21-7, 21-11.

On the other hand Marju and Riza were defeated by Remy and Ross 16-21, 17-21, together with Ross they outlasted Mishal and Sol 21-19, 21-13 and when paired with Lily they thrashed Remy and Rizza 21-10, 21-16.
