TEHRAN, May 4 (KUNA) - Iranian parliamentarians approved on Monday the government's proposal to delete 4 zeros from the current Iranian currency (riyal) and adopt (Toman) as an official currency instead of the riyal.

The official Iranian News Agency (IRNA) quoted the governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdel Nasser Hamti, as saying that the parliament approved the government's proposal to delete four zeros from the current currency (riyal) and adopt (Toman) as the official currency in the country.

He explained that the new (Toman) equals 10 thousand Iranian riyals and will enter the financial dealings alongside the actual currency (the riyal) until he gradually replaces it.

In recent years, the Iranian currency has witnessed an unprecedented decline and lost a lot of its value against foreign currencies
