KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: Statistics issued by the Public Security Sector of the Ministry of Interior shows 19,478 people were detained in police stations, 3,484 of them criminals and persons wanted in civil cases, 2,583 residence law violators, 358 persons in connection with alcohol cases, 3,089 for trading and consuming drugs, 1,041 reported absconding, and 7,301 for not holding identification documents during 2021, reports Al-Qabas daily. The statistics also showed 1,657 vehicles wanted by law were seized, issued 66,284 miscellaneous traffic citations, dealt with 32,326 traffic accidents, 799 vehicles were impounded for various reasons and 103 violations were issued for parking in places reserved for people with disabilities.
The statistics indicated that the Capital Governorate ranked first in the number of misdemeanors cases registered during the past year with 4,532 misdemeanors, followed by Hawalli Governorate with 3,895 cases, Farwaniya Governorate ranked first in the number of criminal with 976 cases, followed by the Jahra Governorate with felony 732 cases. According to the statistics, 414 money felony cases and 661 check misdemeanors were registered.
