Imran Khan Niazi ‘ousted’

Pakistan is considered, with certainty and not guesswork, to be one of the most difficult countries in the world to govern due to the nation’s multi-ethnic components, the poverty of the state in resources, the multiplicity of its tribes, and its semi-independent military force.

Some of the regions form independent governments in their regions and have their own customs and traditions which often has nothing to do with logic, religion or morals.

Pakistan is also considered strictly religious more than any Islamic country, and even has its own concepts which it spreads, especially among families rich in agricultural land, for example, the “Qur’an marriage”, meaning that the family gets their daughter married to the Holy Book of Quran, through a large religious ceremony, to remain single for the rest of her life, her share of the inheritance does not go to a stranger from the family.

The traditions of some of its tribes, for example, allow for public rape, if a woman dares to make a relationship with a man of a higher social class.

Pakistan is also considered the biggest in religious assassinations and suicide bombings carried out by Sunni militants in Shiite mosques, or Shiites in Sunni mosques.

I heard and read about Imran Khan Niazi since the time I was living in London, in the eighties, when he was a (cricketing) star and whose pictures adorned the front pages of tabloids, sometimes for reasons of ‘scandals’.

He was a playboy and he allegedly had relationships with Lisa Campbell, Susannah Constantine, Emma Sergeant, and others and he gained his fame as one of the most famous cricketers, and after he became the captain of his country’s team, achieving the only victory for his country in its history , but then several scandals befell him as a result of his confessions, related to his immoral tampering with the cricket ball.

His name was also associated for a very short time with Princess Diana, before he married the Englishwoman, Jemima Goldsmith, in 1995, and they separated after 9 years, after it became clear to her that Imran in “England” was not Imran in “Pakistan”!

An American court also ruled the validity of his paternity to a daughter from a relationship with another British woman, with whom he was associated for a while, but he did not recognize the verdict.

After Imran retired from the game, he started writing opinion articles in various newspapers; English and Asian and focused his efforts on charity and social work, promoted himself through those works, and began to oppose the politicians of that time, such as Pervez Musharraf and Asif Zardari, as he was opposed to American and British policy. He was also known for sympathizing with the Taliban in his early days and admired their rapid rise.

Imran founded his political party in 1996, in opposition to the West. After becoming an MP, he voted for an Islamist candidate in his quest to be president, and was calling for a holy war against America, was loyal to the Taliban, and shunned General Musharraf for the post.

Many did not consider Imran Khan a serious politician, the masses were drawn to him as a famous cricket hero, but that means nothing in a country that is difficult to govern without the army and tribes accepting any candidate, let alone the acceptance of the major powers.

Imran also lacked the strength that most of his competitors are known for. His attempt to impose the full veil on his wife is nothing but some of his miserable attempts to win the mob to his side.

Despite Imran’s claim of his religious adherence, he never had the credibility in this. He stood firmly with politicians, then turned against them and attacked them, only to come back and support them again, and this is what he did with Nawaz Sharif, Musharraf and others.

One of the great commentators quoted him as saying: “While in Pakistan he wears traditional Pakistani clothes and preaches religious values, but it is the complete turnaround with the elite in Britain and elsewhere in the West.”

Prominent political columnist Azam Khalil also described him as one of the total failures in Pakistan politics, and that Imran Khan changed his political direction over and over again, and he has no way of thinking at the present time, and that is why the vast majority of the people did not take him seriously.
