KUWAIT CITY, July 29: An extensive security campaign launched by Ministry of Interior in several locations within Mahboula area resulted in the arrest of 229 individuals. In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the Public Relations and Security Media Department explained that securitymen led by Undersecretary of Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad carried out inspections in suspected locations within the area and checked the records of residents and frequent visitors to these locations. They also closed all entries and exits in Mahboula area to carry out the campaign and track down violators of law and wanted individuals. During the campaign, 229 individuals were arrested. Two among them are wanted by law for their involvement in criminal cases, 140 were reported as absconding, seven are wanted for civil cases, four are marginal workers, 13 had expired residencies, 61 did not possess any identification documents, and two were arrested for theft and selling liquor. All suspects were referred to concerned authorities for necessary legal action. The campaign was carried out based on instructions of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to carry out such sudden security campaigns to arrest violators of law and fugitives. The Public Relations and Security Media Department urged citizens and expatriates to cooperate with securitymen and refrain from sheltering or protecting violators of law and fugitives in order to avoid being held legally accountable. It also urged people to support the campaign and report about any individual or activity that can put the security of the country at risk.

Foreign liquor seized: An unemployed Bedoun man was arrested in Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorate by Criminal Security Men for trading in imported alcohol. Acting on a tip-off about the activities of the suspect, a team of detectives was formed to follow up the issue. In the meantime, an undercover agent sealed a deal with the suspect to supply an unspecified quantity of the contraband. He was apprehended upon delivery. The officers went ahead and conducted a search in his car and recovered 47 bottles of assorted imported gin. He was referred to the concerned authority.

Drugs with duo: Two Kuwaiti citizens were arrested in Khaitan area in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. According to security sources, Farwaniya securitymen were patrolling Khaitan area when they suspected a 4WD vehicle with two occupants and ordered the driver to pull over. Securitymen checked their details to discover they are Kuwaiti citizens. Noticing their nervousness, securitymen checked them to find sachets containing drugs as well as drug paraphernalia. The suspects were arrested and referred with the seized items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Jewelry stolen: Unknown persons stole jewelry worth KD 1,000 plus KD 420 cash from the apartment of an Arab expatriate in Salmiya area. In his complaint, the victim told security operatives he was outside with his wife and other family members when the incident took place. Criminal Evidences Men went to the scene and lifted fingerprints to trail the suspects. Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti citizen told officers in Ferdous police station that an unknown person broke the glass of his vehicle at a parking lot near to his house and stole wallet containing his civil ID card. A case was registered.
