Illegal maids office raided

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: Personnel from the General Department for Nationality and Passports, headed by Major-General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah, recently raided an apartment that was used by some people to shelter absconding domestic workers, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to the department these maids were then sent to work in houses for double the money they would normally earn. After taking legal procedures, the detectives raided the location and seized 18 Asian women all wanted by law and reported absconders by their respective sponsors.

They said they had been asked to escape from sponsors in return for receiving twice the salary they used to receive from their sponsors. Those running the apartment have also been taken into custody
