Huge quantity of subsidized items on illegal sale seized

KUWAIT CITY, June 7: Emergency team affiliated to the Department of Monitoring and Consumer Protection seized a quantity of subsidized commodities at a makeshift market in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.

In a statement, the department said Sadeeq Emergency Team in cooperation with Ministry of Interior acted on a tip-off regarding some individuals selling subsidized commodities in the aforementioned market and raided the place.

The team noticed that hawkers were filling up empty containers of subsidized items with different varieties of commodities such as rice due to popular demand for subsidized provisions.

They seized 15 sacks of 50 kg rice, 36 boxes of powdered milk, 8 boxes of infant milk, 257 empty sacks for refilling subsidized rice, and a sewing machine for sealing the sacks after the refill.

The operation was led by shift leader Khalid Al-Badri and inspectors Ammar Al-Ostaz, Muhammad Al-Adwani and Ayed Al-Otaibi. All confiscated commodities with the violators were referred to relevant authorities for legal action.
