‘Hire Kuwaitis in MPW contracts’

KUWAIT CITY, June 21: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works Eng. Walid Al-Ghanim issued a decision to form a work team to supervise the implementation of the Kuwaitization policy in the ministry’s project contracts, reports Al-Anba daily. According to informed sources, this team will be assigned with following up the implementation of the regulations on contracts subject to the Kuwaitization decision, and developing a comprehensive plan for the implementation of the Kuwaitization policy in order to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the procedures of the Kuwaitization policy through contracts. It must recommend to the concerned authorities the imposition of the penalties stipulated in the contract concluded with the contractor in the event of breach of obligations stipulated in the contracts related to Kuwaiti workforce.

The team will be specialized in preparing short and longterm plans that reveal job opportunities for Kuwaitis in contractor contracts and presenting its proposals in this regard, in addition to interpreting the provisions to the concerned authorities, and defining and preparing the executive procedures for implementing the provisions and submitting them for approval to the concerned authority.

The sources highlighted that the technical committee for the implementation of the work teams and committees’ mechanism must submit a monthly periodic report on the team’s work, specifying the monthly work plan, the extent of work accomplished and the rate of achievement, adding that the report must be submitted during the last week of each month and on the last working day of the month.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance has launched an electronic campaign to attract Kuwaiti experts to work in the ministry, reports Al-Anba daily. The ministry’s need for 90 citizens to work in eight different sectors of the ministry were presented through about 70 platforms. The ministry’s needs vary according to sectors, as it requires specialists in engineering, administrative, tax, economy, contracts, tenders, strategic planning, credit, risk management, Islamic finance, databases, networks, systems analysis, comprehensive quality, and other specializations.
