HH the Amir receives congratulatory cables – Sheikh Sabah ‘renowned world leader’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Thursday received a cable of congratulations from His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the tenth anniversary of his ascension to power on Jan 29.
His Highness the Amir also received a cable of congratulations from President of Kuwait National Guard His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah. To mark this occasion, the Deputy Chief of Kuwait National Guard Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah said the achievements of His Highness the Amir in resolving regional and international issues as well as his contribution to world peace will always be remembered in history books. He affirmed that His Highness the Amir is known for his diplomatic and humanitarian efforts worldwide, in recognition of which the United Nations honored him with the title of ‘Humanitarian Leader’.
Sheikh Meshal also highlighted the role played by His Highness the Amir in the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion in 1991 by gathering international support for Kuwait and mediating to end conflicts in the Arab world, adding that the Amir has been effectively protecting Kuwait’s security and stability and leading the country through difficult times due to his wise leadership In addition, His Highness the Amir received cables of congratulations from National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Speaking on the 10th anniversary of His Highness the Amir’s ascension to ruler ship, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij said in a press release that Sheikh Sabah was one of the major leaders to have an impact on the regional and international scenes, affirming that the Kuwaiti leader’s long political career, which began in the mid-1940s, made him one of the distinguished leaders in history.
His Highness Sheikh Sabah career as Foreign Minister, which began in 1963, made him the most suitable individual to lead the state of Kuwait towards the future, said the top KUNA official, adding that His Highness the Amir played a pivotal role in gathering international support in condemning the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990. He went on saying that along with late Amir His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the late father Amir Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Sabah’s efforts made it possible for Kuwait to be liberated from the Iraq aggressors. The recent UN recognition of His Highness the Amir as a humanitarian leader and Kuwait as a global humanitarian center is evident of the strong and wise leadership of Sheikh Sabah, said the KUNA Director who wished the leader of Kuwait ever more success in the future.
