‘Health nod must for companies to take part in food exhibitions’

KUWAIT CITY, May 6: The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has signed an agreement with the Exhibitions Department of the Kuwait International Fairground whereby a company from inside or outside Kuwait cannot take part in food fairs without getting a temporary health license from the Food Authority, reports Al-Anba daily.

The Director of the Department in the Food and Nutrition Authority Ali Hashim Al-Kandari told the daily the food companies are taking advantage by participating in the exhibition to get rid of products which are close to expiry dates and seen as unsuitable for consumption. He added, this agreement will limit this kind of behavior since, “we will monitor the exhibited products and limit the participation.

He added this agreement is a great achievement and a practical step in the interest of public health and the safety of citizens and residents and strengthens the role of supervision. He pointed out this agreement with the exhibition authorities will continue to work continuously to prevent anyone who uses such atmosphere as a marketing window to dispose of expired products.
