Health ministry to pay a businesswoman KD 40,000 for medical error

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: The Court of Appeals ordered the Ministry of Health to pay KD 40,000 in compensation to a businesswoman who suffered damages from medical error when doctors forgot a needle in her stomach during a surgical operation.

The lawsuit filed by Lawyer Abdul-Aziz Al-Balwan on behalf of the woman indicated her client underwent a cosmetic operation in the stomach at the Amiri Hospital, which resulted in complications due to the needle forgotten in the process. She later went through several other surgeries to correct the anomaly and this worsened her situation.
