Health authorities oppose shortening of quarantine period

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 28: While everyone has been waiting in anticipation of a decision by health authorities regarding the reduction of mandatory quarantine period and reviewing list of banned 34 countries, sources revealed that there has been no change in quarantine period for those coming from abroad. Despite there have been calls to reduce the period to 7 days like in other countries instead of specified 14 days.

The health authorities stated that the work will continue for the current prescribed period as they are committed to the recommendations issued according to their assessment of the pandemic situation of Coronavirus.

The Ministry of Health’s decision comes after it had received a proposal from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to reduce the quarantine period for arrivals to 7 days instead of 14 days.

On the other hand, the sources indicated that the health situation continues to be assessed on the list of 34 countries, so that some of them are removed or new ones are added  based on the health assessment and the epidemiological situation in these countries.
