Head of Kuwait Oly Committee honors sports associations, clubs and sportspersons

Head of Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Al-Jaber Al-Ali honored more than 25 sports associations and clubs and 650 sportspersons particularly those who won in various sports events during the Kuwait Sports Day which was recently held at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.

The event, which was held at the headquarters of the Olympic committee, was attended by the Deputy Head of Kuwait Olympic committee and the Higher Organizing Committee Duaij Al-Otaibi as well as a huge number of sports officials and heads of sports associations and clubs.

In his speech, Sheikh Fahad Al-Jaber praised all the associations that participated in the sports day, and the sportspersons of different age groups who participated in the various sports events.

He affirmed that such participation enhances the spirit of sports in the country and develops the skills and abilities of the sportspersons in a manner that benefits the country in general.

Sheikh Al-Jaber stressed the importance of communication among the sports associations and clubs, which is considered to be the focal point of support for the sports sector and sportspersons of Kuwait. He said it will help in developing and preparing huge number of sportspersons for the future of this country in the field of sports, especially while the country waiting for the lifting of the sports ban.

Sheikh Al-Jaber called upon all sports associations to necessarily study modern methods for supporting youths and upcoming champions through the adoption of successful methods used in advanced countries in this regard and by following their experiences in order to achieve best results in the end.

The teams that were honored during the event included Kuwait’s junior football team which came third in the recently concluded 3rd International Jeem Cup that was held in Qatar earlier this month. Sheikh Fahad Al-Jaber gave each player of the team a cash present of KD 200 from his pocket.

Another team honored at the event was the “Kayak-4-Kuwait” team which recently completed its environmental expedition of touring the GCC countries on their kayaks. Many other sports personalities and teams were honored, which represented the determination of Kuwaiti sports sector to prosper.
