KUWAIT CITY, April 6: Director of the Department of Public Hygiene and Road Works in Jahra Municipality Fahad Al- Qarifa announced that the department has developed an integrated plan for pursuing street hawkers during the holy month of Ramadan, reports Al-Rai daily. He revealed that inspectors will be deployed in front of public markets, malls, and also on the main roads during the morning and evening shifts.
Al-Qarifa affirmed that the municipality is currently dealing with all cases in accordance with the legal procedures by seizing the cart if any, confiscating goods, destroying food items, and issuing a citation against the hawker and registering it under his civil number, which could lead to deportation for expatriates. He revealed that, “There is a network that manages hawkers in Kuwait. The biggest problem is the exploitation of minors and women for hawking on the streets.”
