KUWAIT CITY, May 20: Embassy of France in Kuwait announced that it will gradually resume the renewal of Schengen visas, pending the reopening of the borders, based on a time schedule and categories set in this regard. In a press statement, the embassy revealed that the visa renewal will be according to the categories authorized currently, which are – spouses of French citizens, those seeking to reunite with their families, health professionals, those contributing to the fight against COVID-19, and students.

The embassy declared, “As of May 24, short-term Schengen visas, which are valid for a year or more, were issued by the French embassy, and expired in 2020 or 2021, can be renewed. From July 1, all other applicants can file visa applications through the appointment website Capago Kuwait”. The embassy urged everyone to abide by the aforementioned time schedule, as any visa application that does not fall within this time schedule will be rejected.

It explained that, “In order to regulate the flow, we request you to apply for visas within the coming weeks only if you are planning to visit France during the summer, provided the borders are open. We would like to remind you as well that the French borders are still closed. Having a visa does not mean that one can go to France for a simple touristic or professional visit for the time being. At this stage, only travelers within one of aforementioned categories, to be mentioned in the travel certificate of the Ministry of Interior, can apply for entry into the country.”
