Govt bans import of bombs, ammo look-alike goods

KUWAIT CITY, June 10: Director-General of the General Administration of Customs has issued instructions to ban the import and sale of commercial goods which look like explosives such as bombs and ammunition, reports Al- Rai daily. The official said such objects can be identified only by specialists in security work.

The ban is issued in the best interests of the citizens and residents of Kuwait because sometimes these objects may be source of panic and have negative impact on internal security and cause waste of time, effort and money.

The Interior Ministry has recently seen an increasing number of items being sold in the market which look like explosives, items such as alarm clocks in the form of improvised explosive device, cigarette lighters which resemble bullets and hand grenades, cups in the shape of grenades and miscellaneous ammunition and bottles of perfume in the shape of grenades
