GDRA officers nab 33 ‘illegals’ from Hawally apartment

KUWAIT CITY, May 13: Officers from the General Department for Residency Affairs arrested 33 violators of residency law of different nationalities from an apartment in Hawally area, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press statement, the General Department of Public Relations and Media Security explained that the General Department for Residency Affairs received information about an apartment in Hawally area when a number of violators of residency law and runaway domestic workers were being sheltered. A team was formed and investigations were carried out.

After confirming the information and taking necessary legal measures, the apartment was raided and a total of 33 expatriates of different nationalities were arrested. When questioned, they confessed that they are not working for their sponsors but are working on daily wages. When officers checked their details on the database, they discovered that the suspects are all violators of residency law. Some among them were reported as absconding and some were involved in cases. They were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action
