‘Attention should be equally devoted to all forms’

The meeting which runs until the 4th of July 2018 will review 30 new sites to consider which of them will be added to the World Heritage List. The Committee will also examine the state of conservation of one hundred and seventy five (157) sites already on the World Heritage List. Fifty-four (54) of those sites are also on the List of World Heritage in Danger. The committee will also determine if it will remove the Historic Center of Shakhrisyabz in Uzbekistan from World Heritage List. (AF

GENEVA, June 25, (KUNA): Member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have affirmed significance of promoting human rights’ culture and adopting dialogue and tolerance in face of mushrooming hatred and racial indiscrimination.This was declared in a statement made by the State of Kuwait Permanent Representative at the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghuneim, during the 38th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. On behalf of the GCC states, he affirmed importance of human rights to ensure respect for human dignity, stressing on cooperation, building bridges of confidence among states and respecting their sovereignty. He called for a professional approach to address this issue to “overcome any difficulties that may emerge in the face of our efforts to attain common objectives for bolstering and protecting the human rights.”“Our celebration this year of the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights places more responsibilities on our shoulders to re-affirm our commitment to bolstering and respecting the human rights,” Al-Ghuneim added.The Kuwaiti ambassador Al-Ghuneim said the GCC states have substantiated their adherence to human rights, citing a previous declaration in this respect by the bloc in the past. These states emphasize that attention should be equally devoted to all forms of human rights, including those at the economic, social and cultural levels. Moreover, the GCC countries call for tackling obstacles affecting development because such hurdles impact on the human rights, the envoy Al-Ghuneim has elaborated. The council 38th session which began on June 18 would conclude on July 7. It is dedicated for addressing human rights worldwide according to each region’s conditions.
