Gang of thieves held for snatching phones, cash

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: Hawally securitymen arrested a gang of thieves consisting of four Egyptians and three Lebanese who robbed Kuwaitis and expatriates in Salmiya. In a press statement, the Interior Ministry revealed the arrest happened after the officers conducted a thorough investigation in response to the complaint of an expatriate — one of the victims. During interrogation, the suspects admitted the crime saying they stole cash, mobile phones and other valuable items. A case was registered and the suspects were referred to the concerned security department.

Drug peddlers held: An Egyptian and a Kuwaiti were arrested for trafficking in drugs. In a press statement, the Interior Ministry revealed its Operations Unit received information about an Egyptian selling chemical substance at KD 50 per kilogram. A security team put the suspect under surveillance and after verifying the information, they arranged an entrapment which led to the arrest of the Egyptian and his companion — a Kuwaiti. When the officers searched the two suspects, they found five kilograms of a certain narcotic substance, 400 grams of a powder included on the list of intoxicants and is being used for manufacturing a chemical substance and 1,200 packs of narcotics ready for sale. During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they are trading in drugs so they were referred to the relevant security department along with the confiscated narcotics.

Wanted men caught: Three wanted individuals including a Kuwaiti citizen were arrested in Fintas area, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to sources, officers from Ahmadi Security Directorate arrested two of the suspects after discovering that one of them is wanted by law for five cases that was filed against him while the other was involved in a case filed by a telecommunication company. The officers checked their vehicle and found some suspicious items. The suspects were referred with the confiscated items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action
