Four Asians held in Taima liquor factory bust

Bags full of liquor bottles and equipment used to manufacture booze

KUWAIT CITY, June 10: Four Asian expatriates were arrested for manufacturing liquor in Taima area. According to security sources, Jahra Security Director Major General Ali Madhi received information about a gang of Asian expatriates involved in manufacturing liquor. He immediately formed a team headed by Taima Police Station head Colonel Matar Sabeel to conduct investigations. After confirming the information and obtaining a warrant from the Public Prosecution, securitymen raided the suspected location, arrested four Asian expatriates and confiscated 5,000 bottles of locally manufactured liquor, a number of barrels and other equipment used for manufacturing liquor.

The arrested individuals were referred with the confiscated items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. The sources affirmed that instructions were issued by Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah to ensure such violators of law do not escape punishment. Meanwhile, Public Relations and Security Media Department of Ministry of Interior and Hawally Security Directorate, in coordination with Criminal Security Sector, arrested a Kuwaiti citizen and three Asian expatriates from an illegal liquor factory in Hawally area.

When security authorities received complaints of a bad smell emitting from a house in Hawally Governorate, investigations were held and a warrant was obtained to raid the house. The raid revealed that the house was being used for manufacturing liquor. The officers confiscated 66 barrels and 572 bottles filled with locally manufactured liquor, as well as 128 cartons of empty bottles and empty barrels. A Kuwaiti citizen and three Asian expatriates who were at the house at the time of the raid were arrested and referred with the confiscated items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
