KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19:  Is it a misfortune of the part of a company, or did an expatriate reaped a ‘fortune’ when he signed a contract with a company, or is it a human error as usual for which a high price was paid, reports Al-Anba daily. This is a story of a foreign worker who signed a contract with a company.

The monthly salary was KD 1,200. The contract was documented and sent for approval and documentation in the country of the worker. The work permit and all official papers were obtained from the competent authority. However, it was found that the monthly salary recorded in the work permit and contract was KD 12,000 which worked out to approximately $40,000 a month, $480,000 annually.

The company tried hard to correct the error and sought the assistance of the Public Authority for Manpower, which was unable to correct it because the salary can be adjusted in the work permit only when the contract is renewed according to specific procedures.
