Foreign Affairs in bid to address fake accounts on ‘social networking sites’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is waiting for the activation of its role in the governmental project aimed at addressing fake accounts on social networking sites, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources said the ministry will coordinate with Kuwait’s embassies abroad, particularly countries where such accounts are being run and companies that own social networking sites in order to take deterrent action against the administrators of accounts which encourage sedition.

In addition, Director of Moderation Center Dr Abdullah Al-Sharika has announced the launching of a media campaign entitled, “To Investigate” (Fatabiano). He disclosed this was made possible through the concerted efforts of ministries and other governmental bodies in a bid to warn the public on the risks of fake accounts, as well as curb the spread of sedition and rumors on social media.
