KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: The Ministry of Public Works recently approached the ministries of Finance and Higher Education to provide budget for the Institute of Music Studies and Dramatic Arts project, or asked for scrapping of the project because it remains stalled due to the lack of funds.

Informed sources in the Ministry of Public Works stated that the ministry had made great strides in launching and implementing the project, and completed the designs through a consultancy office at a cost of 287,000 dinars.

The ministry said the project was launched in February 2016, but the bids were studied in October by the Central Agency for Public Tenders, which decided not to award the tender citing lack of finances.

The sources explained the project is one of the important construction projects included in the ministry program, but because of the lack of funds, the project has been stalled until now despite the its location in Mishref to be built on 46,125 square meters with the actual building area of 167,451 sq meters. She pointed out that the components of the project are the Institute of Performing Arts, a music theater, a theater for performing arts, a main theater and basements.
