Firefighting official gets 15-yr jail, KD 4m fine for embezzling KD 2mn

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: The Criminal Court sentenced a firefighting official to 15 years in prison and fined him KD 4 million for embezzling KD 2 million in salaries within two years by manipulating the Civil Service Commission system to increase his salary, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily published details of the case on Nov 17, 2021 headlined: “A firefighting official embezzled KD 2 million public funds.” At the time, the firefighting entity issued a statement confirming and condemning the embezzlement. It also formed a committee consisting of members from the concerned authorities to conduct investigations.
