Fire breaks out at Al Meera supermarket in Shuwaikh

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: The Kuwait Fire Service Directorate teams controlled a massive fire that broke out at dawn today at Al Meera supermarket in Shuwaikh Industrial Area.

The KFSD stated that they received an intimation exactly 5:51 am about a  large fire that had erupted. 6 firefighting teams from the Shuwaikh Industrial Centers, Al-Shuhada, Al-Ardiyah, Madinah, Salmiya, and Al-Isnad were directed to the site, the first fire brigade to reach the site within 4 minutes.

The firefighting teams worked to control the fire because it did not spread to the neighboring buildings, by making use of hydraulic ladders the firefighting teams were able to control the area of 3,000 square meters. Only obstacle faced by the KFSD team was a ceiling which had collapsed.

 One person was found missing, search is currently going on as there is suspicion that this person was at the site when fire broke out. 
The governor of the capital, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, confirmed that “the governorate is following up, moment by moment, with the Director General of the Fire Department, Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Mukrad, the developments of the (Al-Meera Land) market fire in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area.
