KUWAIT CITY, Jan 5: After the crisis of high barley prices, which remains stagnant without solutions, sheep farmers are facing a crisis that may turn into a disaster in the absence of immediate solutions to the chaff problem, reports Al-Rai daily. Informed sources told the daily, a problem that has emerged recently because of the shortage of chaff led to the 100 percent increase in fodder prices.

Sources said one bag of fodder was sold earlier for 450 or 500 fils to a dinar and now the same bag is sold for two dinars, and it price is expected to rise further. The sources pointed out that the quantities are in short supply in the market for reasons that are not clear and may be due to weather conditions, torrential rains or the repercussions of the pandemic, pointing out that the main source of import is Iran and Pakistan.
