Sector keeping tab on employees

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: The Cooperatives Sector of the Ministry of Social Affairs is taking an inventory of employees working in cooperatives society sector, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily added, this is done with the aim of keeping a tab on those who are not committed to work but are registered with the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) to obtain employment support. Official sources said that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry inspectors and the Coop Branches Department over the past days have come across a dozen of employees in several cooperatives who do not have their fingerprint attendance record since 2019, but continue to receive their full salaries and labor support from PAM.

The sources said in one of the coops the inspectors found 21 employees working in the shareholders’ department, while according to the Ministry of Social Affairs the department needs only three personnel to run the affairs of the department. The inspectors of the department also discovered the rest of the employees did not have the attendance record, this is in addition to one female employee who is working for the Board of Directors since 2019 but a request was submitted to absolve her from the fingerprint attendance. This employee is reportedly paid 250 monthly pay in addition to the labor support from PAM although she never showed up at her workplace. The inspectors say in another coop 20 employees were working for the public relations department although there is no need for them and there is no placement for them according to the Ministry of Social Affairs record. The sources stated the inspectors have submitted their reports about waste of shareholders and public money through fake appointments and PAM has been requested to close the files of the violating employees
